Cultural program ‘Ek Sham Shaheedon Ke Naam’ organised

JAMMU, Aug 17: A cultural programme ‘Ek Sham Shaheedon ke Naam’ was organised by Department of Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) to celebrate 75 years of Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, here today.
The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest Prof Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu. The programme started with the auspicious lighting of the lamp, followed by SaraswatiVandana. All the constituent Colleges and Schools of Cluster University participated in the event and showcased their patriotic fervor through diverse and heart wrenching melodies.
The event was organised under the patronage of Prof BechanLal, Vice Chancellor CLUJ who welcomed the gathering and apprised them about the event. The theme of Independence Day for the current year is ‘Nation First, Always First’.
An enchanting cultural programme was presented by the students of constituent Colleges and PG Schools wherein they paid tribute to the brave martyrs who laid down their lives for the Nation. The cultural programme was a mesmerizing mix of mime, patriotic songs, medley, Ghazal and solo performances.
Romaloji, a well known local folk singer and performer of National and International repute along with his daughter, Saras Bharti, alumni of GCW of Cluster University of Jammu and his troupe enticed the audience with his impeccable rendition of local folklore and dance.
The chief guest Prof Umesh Rai appreciated the efforts of CLUJ in organizing such a relevant and meaningful program to celebrate 75 years of Independence. He exhorted that it is a tribute to our freedom fighters and freedom movement. The celebration of 75 Years of India’s Independence is a sacrosanct effort to honour the sacrifices of our courageous leaders and freedom fighters.
Dr Twinkle Suri, DSW CLUJ thanked the audience and participants for their active participation. She also expressed her gratitude to the constituent Colleges and Schools of constituent Colleges for their active participation in the momentous celebration.
Dean Academic Affairs, Registrar CLUJ, Controller Examination, Deans, Principals and Coordinators of NCC, NSS wings faculty and staff of different constituent Colleges and Schools graced the occasion.
The programme concluded with the recital of the National Anthem by the participants and guests.
