JAMMU, June 2: Seeking support of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community to set up a new system of justice and equality in the State, general secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Sartaz Madni today said that every community has to play its role in the on-going transformation process in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that present Government headed by Mehbooba Mufti has initiated a number of pro-people measures and it is need to the hour to educate the people about these welfare steps so that benefit of such schemes must reach to the deserving lot.
Sartaj Madni was addressing a function after inaugurating election office, set up by the Minority Cell of Party at Bohri in the outskirts of Jammu city, for Mehbooba Mufti, who is contesting bye-election from Anantnag Assembly Constituency as PDP candidate. Members of the Anantnag Parbandhak Committee under the leadership of M K Bambroo also offered unconditional support to Mehbooba Mufti.
Mr Madni reiterated resolve of his party to facilitate honourable return of displaced Kashmiri Pandits to their native places. He sought support and cooperation of the Kashmiri Pandit community to accomplish late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s visionary agenda of peace, prosperity and brotherhood. “PDP has already started the process of transformation to change destiny of the people of this State”, he said and asked Kashmiri Pandit community to strengthen hands of Mehbooba Mufti to take this process to the logical conclusion.
“Return of Kashmiri Pandits to their native places in Kashmir valley is must to maintain the ethnicity and diversity of Kashmiri culture”, he maintained and reiterated his party’s resolution to facilitate honourable return of the community.
Speaking on the occasion, PDP’s minority cell chairman, Ramesh Koul exhorted the displaced community to come forward and join PDP’s campaign to change the system. “We have to be instrumental in the process of transformation”, he told the gathering.
He appealed to the Kashmiri Pandits of Anantnag Assembly segment, living in different parts of Jammu to cast their vote in favour of PDP candidate Mehbooba Mufti.
