RAJOURI, Sept 12: Ex-Minister and former MP, Madan Lal Sharma conducted an extensive tour of flood hit areas of the district and took stock of the flood like situation arisen due to torrential rains.
The former MP visited Bela Colony, Manjakote, Dherilayote, Patrar and listened to the grievances of the flood affected people. He expressed grave concern over the incessant rains that have wrought havoc in the State and claimed several lives besides causing colossal damage to property. He termed the situation very grim and demanded the joint action of Central and State Government to put things back on track.
Sharma demanded immediate relief for the people affected by flash floods and heavy rains. Sharma asked the administration to ensure the safety of the people and initiate necessary steps to shift them to the safer places. He showed his concern over the heavy rains and flash flood and asked the Deputy Commissioners to assess the loss of live stock, property and crops, and provide immediate relief to the affected people.
Shabir Ahmed Khan, former Health Minister and Kuldeep Raj Verma, vice-chairman, OBC J&K, also demanded immediate assessment of the damages caused to property and residential houses so that the sufferers are adequately compensated.
