AKHNOOR, Mar 8: Madan Lal Sharma, Member Parliament (MP), Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency has sounded election bugle from Akhnoor and called upon the people to vote for the Congress Party to elect him for the third term.
Addressing a mammoth public gathering at village Bhalwal Brahmana, Mr. Sharma said that during his two terms as MP, he has tried his best to do justice with every section of the people in his Parliament segment, which is spread right from Samba to Poonch. He said though the MP has specific role and meager funds at his disposal, yet he used his good offices and ensured substantial development in all essential sectors. He asked the people to vote for him again so that the unfinished tasks are accomplished.
Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma, Vice Chairman, OBC Advisory Board, Kuldeep Raj Verma, Congress Block President, Akhnoor, Bhagat Ram Saran, Congress Mahila Pradhan, Raj Rani, prominent local Congress leaders, Sarpanchs/Panchs and large number of people drawn from different parts of Akhnoor tehsil were present on the occasion.
Highlighting the achievements of UPA Government at the Centre, the MP said that Central leadership has always soft corner for the State of Jammu and Kashmir and helped it substantially to undertake infrastructural development and other welfare schemes for improving the socio-economic status of people, especially those living in the rural and far-flung areas.
He said Congress is the only party which can provide justice to all sections of the society, adding that the party has rich history of over 125 years to serve the people of the country. The party has given numerous sacrifices for the nation and people must bring the party again in power with thumping majority.
He cautioned the people against the hollow slogan mongers and communal forces, which make the politics of dividing the communities. He said such forces only surface at the time of election and mislead the people by spreading false propaganda, inciting the sentiments of innocents. The people should not fall prey to their nefarious design and must teach them lesson. He appealed the people to vote for his party and ensure his success with sizeable margin.
Sham Lal Sharma in his address said that development is the only poll plank of the Congress and people must judge the scenario on ground. During the past one decade, massive development in all vital sectors has taken place and change has been acknowledged by the people themselves. He said Coalition Government in the state has written golden history by taking several landmark decisions, like introducing Public Service Guarantee Act, RTI Act, creating independent Vigilance Commission, conducting Panchayat elections, empowering PRIs in line with Central Government and creating large number of administrative units. These actions will transform the socio-economic profile of the State.
He asked the people to judge the performance of the Coalition Government on ground and elect the Coalition candidate sitting MP, Madan Lal Sharma, who has done tireless work during the past decade.
Kuldeep Verma also addressed and appealed the people to vote for the Congress party to ensure peace, development and better future. He also highlighted the achievements of the Government during the past one decade.
