JAMMU, May 7: Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu, Madan Lal inaugurated the District Level Inter-Zonal Competitions in the disciplnes of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Wrestling and Cricket Boys Under-14 and Under-17 in an impressive function at Government Higher Secondary School, Domana, here today.
A record participation of around 1300 student players drawn from various zones of Jammu was witnessed on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Madan Lal said that sports is an integral part of education and winning and losing is its part.
He stressed upon the organizers, especially the selection committee members to pick the teams on merit and provide strong teams for Inter-District Competitions.
Citing example of Virat Kohli’s RCB, the chief guest said that winning and losing is p[art of the game, but performing better is the name of the game.
The Competitions are being held under the overall supervision of Sukh Dev Raj Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu.
In Under-14 Cricket, Satwari Zone beat Bishnah zone, Bhalwal Zone defeated Dansal Zone and Khour Zone thrashed Miran Sahib Zone on Day-1 today.
