M-cap of top 8 Sensex cos advances over Rs 1.46 lakh cr

NEW DELHI, June 8:  Top eight Sensex companies, led by energy major ONGC, added a whopping Rs 1,46,741 crore to their market valuation last week.
Amid a strong stock market where the benchmark Sensex gained 4.87 per cent or 1,179.12 points last week, eight companies from the top-10 list of India’s most valuable firms saw surge in their market capitalisation (m-cap), including RIL, CIL, SBI and L&T.
ONGC was the star performer among the top-10 firms as its m-cap zoomed Rs 73,363.33 crore to Rs 3,96,974.74 crore. During the week, shares of the state-owned firm jumped 22.67 per cent.
The market value of RIL soared by Rs 17,731.12 crore to Rs 3,62,015.53 crore, while that of SBI skyrocketed Rs 14,203.56 crore to Rs 2,03,974.97 crore.
Larsen & Toubro’s m-cap advanced by Rs 12,965.17 crore to Rs 1,56,611.55 crore and CIL added Rs 12,537.99 crore to Rs 2,46,969.85 crore.
Similarly, ICICI Bank’s market value surged Rs 7,364.98 crore to Rs 1,71,292.04 crore and that of HDFC Bank rose by Rs 5,227.31 crore to Rs 1,96,215.21 crore.
Infosys m-cap went up by Rs 3,347.8 crore to Rs 1,72,259.37 crore.
In contrast, TCS lost Rs 11,781.75 crore to Rs 4,08,208.70 crore from its m-cap and ITC’ value plunged Rs 3,618.7 crore to Rs 2,67,982.50 crore.
In the ranking of top-10 firms, TCS stood at number one position followed by ONGC, RIL, ITC, CIL, SBI, HDFC Bank, Infosys, ICICI Bank and Larsen. (PTI)
