Luke Bracey to star in Mel Gibson’s ‘Hacksaw Ridge’

LOS ANGELES, Aug 26:  Actor Luke Bracey is set to star in filmmaker Mel Gibson’s upcoming feature “Hackshaw Ridge”.
Bracey, 26, joins Andrew Garfield, Vince Vaughn and Sam Worthington in the film, reported Deadline.
The film has the story of Desmond Doss, the first Conscientious Objector in American history to be awarded the Medal Of Honour for bravery in World War II.
“Hacksaw Ridge” shoots in Australia. Bracey plays Smitty, the hard-nosed alpha dog of Doss’ platoon.
While Smitty and Doss at first seem to be complete opposites, the realities of war prove they share more than they initially thought.
Garfield, 32, plays Doss and the story unfolds during WWII and follows the soldiers of the 307th Infantry, 77th Army Division, 1st Battalion, Company B as they train for battle.
The story begins at a base camp in South Carolina and follows the recruits as they learn basic wartime survival skills before being deployed to Japan where they come face to face with the action at the Battle of Okinawa.
The film is produced by Bill Mechanic and David Permut, with Terry Benedict and Steve Longi the co-producers. Robert Schenkkan and Randall Wallace has written the script. (PTI)
