NEW DELHI, Jan 15 : Kiran Bedi, Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, currently on a visit to the union capital, today called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh and discussed with him wide range of issues pertaining to administration, governance and new initiatives undertaken by her in Puducherry.
She also solicited the help and assistance of Department of Administrative Reforms under union Ministry of Personnel to undertake a comprehensive study on governance reforms.
Kiran Bedi gave a detailed resume of some of the recent initiatives undertaken by her in Puducherry. She particularly mentioned the progress made in the sanitation drive and anti-encroachment work initiated by her, as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
Extending an invitation to Dr Jitendra Singh to visit Puducherry at his convenience, Kiran Bedi claimed, the change brought about as a result of the past one year’s efforts will be visible to whoever visits the place.
Dr. Jitendra Singh referred to a proposal from Kiran Bedi for starting a space technology programme at Puducherry. He said, he had conveyed to Chairman ISRO to follow up the same and, if needed, visit Puducherry with his team to explore the possibilities.
Dr Jitendra Singh appreciated Kiran Bedi for having spared time to deliver a lecture at Mussoorie’s Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration for Civil Service/IAS officers and said, the probationers there were particularly keen to hear her.
Dr Jitendra Singh also suggested tho Kiran Bedi to direct the Delhi based office of Puducherry to do the follow up with his office regarding matters pertaining to the union territory.
