JAMMU: Lieutenant General Devraj Anbu today took over as chief of Army’s northern command overlooking the operational command of Jammu and Kashmir.

Lt Gen Devraj took charge of the Udhampur-based Northern command today, Defence Spokesman of Northern Command said.

Devraj succeeded Lt Gen D S Hooda, who retired after an illustrious career of 40 years.

Lt Gen Devraj was commissioned into the Sikh Light Infantry in 1980 and has extensive staff and command exposures.

He commanded a Mountain Brigade in the Kashmir Valley, a Division in North East and the Indian Military Training Team in Bhutan prior to commanding the Tezpur based Corps.

The General also briefly commanded the Sikh Light Infantry Regimental Centre and Assam Rifles Training Centre and School. (AGENCIES)
