NEW DELHI: The Opposition Congress today tried to seek suspension of Question Hour in the Lok Sabha for raising the issue of suicide by a Dalit scholar in the Hyderabad University and the protracted JNU row and secured assurance for a debate over the issues later this afternoon.
As soon as the House met for the day, Congress leader M Mallikarjun Kharge rose to seek suspension of the agenda for immediately taking up the issues for discussion.
Mr Kharge said, “We submitted notices for adjournment and want to raise the issue immediately as these issues have rocked the country, even posing law and order problems at some occasions.”
Speaker Sumitra Mahajan took positive stance agreeing to hold discussions today itself.
Ms Mahajan said, “I have received the notices, the discussion will be held today itself but the time would be decided later on. ”Right now let the Question Hour business take place.” This satisfied the Opposition.
