KATHUA, June 16: Rajbagh Police today busted a racket involving pilferage and misappropriation of LPG and arrested two persons besides seizing the gas tanker.
In its drive against the misappropriation of essential commodities, the Rajbagh Police busted a racket of pilferage and misappropriation of LPG and selling it among the villagers in Rajbagh area in black on the basis of information received by it today.
The police team led by SHO Rajbagh, Inspector, Naresh Sharma under the supervision of SDPO, Border Dy SP M L Kaith immediately swung into action and arrested the driver and his associate for misappropriating the LPG and also seized the tanker where as two persons taking the gas managed to flee after seeing the police.
The Police said that it had received information that the LPG gas is being misappropriated and sold in villages and presently one person, namely Rakesh Kumar son of Anand Lal of Garnadi, driver of LPG tanker No HR38 L/4557 with the active connivance of Surinder Kumar, son of Subash Chander of Garnadi while on its way from Punjab to Jammu were selling LPG gas to villagers at Garnadi by illegally pilfering the gas from the tanker and filling it in cylinders there by causing danger to the lives of people in the village as the LPG gas is a combustible material.
The police said that during the course of investigation it transpired that the gas tanker was filled from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) Depot at Suchi Pind, Jallandhar in Punjab and was meant to be off loaded at IOC plant Bari Brahmana Jammu.
The driver of the truck in connivance with his associate diverted the truck to village Garnadi with criminal intention of misappropriating the LPG and started selling the same to villagers for wrongful gain.
The Police has registered an FIR under Number 117/2013 under Section 3/7 EC Act, 407/285 RPC and started investigations.
