LPG dealer among several booked for cheating consumers

REASI, Jan 20: Acting on a complaint, Department of Legal Metrology, Reasi booked a dealer of Hindustan Petroleum Gas Corporation Ltd for overcharging on LPG (14.2kg) domestic cylinders from the consumers at Pouni.
During the inspection, Inspector Legal Metrology Vicky Sharma under the supervision of Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Reasi, Kuldeep Raj found that the dealer was selling the LPG 14.2kg domestic cylinders to the consumer at the rate of Rs 840 against the MRP of 809.50 fixed by the oil companies for district Reasi.
Inspector Legal Metrology booked sales officer of HPCL and proprietor of the Gas Agency for violation of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement Act and Rules. Further it was found that dealer was selling LPG cylinders whose re-testing date was expired. Inspector Legal Metrology seized two such expired LPG domestic cylinders.
The team also conducted checking of other business establishments at Pouni and Bhambla area. During inspection Inspector Legal Metrology, Reasi also booked M/s Ganpati Floor Mills for supplying under weight Flour bags to the consumers.  A famous Halwai and a wine shop at Pouni were also booked for violation of J&K W&M Enf Act and Rules.
The Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Reasi imposed a fine of Rs 5000 on the sweet shop owner for supplying less sweets to the consumers and Rs 6000 on the wine shop for overcharging on desi whiskey from the consumers.
The sales officer HPCL, Proprietor of Gas Agency Reasi and supplier/manufacturer of flour were directed to attend the office of the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology, Reasi for further legal action warranted under rule.
