LPG agencies cannot indulge in arbitrariness

Why should any welfare scheme launched by the Central Government for the benefit of the deserving people not get infested with irregularities and discrepancies must be troubling all those who try somehow to find their way out to indulge in practices which go against the basic spirits of the very welfare measure? In Pulwama Kashmir, administration had to register FIRs against three LPG agencies for indulging in mass discrepancies in implementation of PMUJ- Ujjwala Yojna in the district.
The modus operandi of the scam came into light by few beneficiaries to their utter surprise, getting subsidy amount credited into their Bank accounts when they had not got any LPG connection in reality, making them inquire about the details from their Banks and Tehsil Supply Officers (TSOs). Such instances of fraudulent means adopted from other areas also started getting unveiled and since most of the beneficiaries are females and not knowing much about the scheme or that a connection stands sanctioned , an enquiry into the entire unfair means revealed the modus operandi and the extent of the scam . Gas refills in the name of someone (under the scheme) never reaching the beneficiary and instead being sold in black market to earn more money by these LPG agencies is reprehensible and meant to defeat the very purpose of the noble scheme. Such unscrupulous dealers deserve to be dealt with sternly and sent to jail preceded with cancellation of their dealership. Otherwise also, a thorough checking and verification of other agencies must be regularly done to rule out any irregularities and illegal practices in distribution of LPG cylinders and connections.
