Lowest batch of 617 pilgrims leave for Amarnath from Jammu

JAMMU:A lowest batch of 617 pilgrims left for the Shri Amarnath cave shrine from Bhagwati Nagar’s Yatri Niwas base camp here today.
“Batch of 617 pilgrims comprising 416 males, 93 females, 74 sadhus, 20 sadhvis and 14 children left for the cave shrine in a fleet of 18 vehicles,” a police spokesperson said. He said the vehicles included 13 State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) buses and five Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs).
The first bus left at 0430 hours while the last left at 0445 hours under tight security arrangements. (AGENCIES)
