UDHAMPUR, July 29: A 14-year old girl and a youth committed suicide by jumping into the canal at Chenani in District Udhampur.
The deceased were identified as Ruby Sharma of Mandoal Dhandar and Dharam Singh (21), son of Bikram Singh of Dhandar. Chenani.
They were missing since last evening and their bodies were fished out from Chenani Hydral Project Canal this morning.
According to police. a written complaint of kidnapping was lodged at Chenani Police Station last evening by father of the girl, who was a student of 8th standard.
Acting on the complaint, SHO Chenani, Inspector Sanjeev Singh Chib rushed Police teams to different areas. The Police team found shoes of the boy and slippers of the girl along with a suicide note near water supply in Hydral Project Canal.
On this, water supply to the canal was got stopped early this morning after which bodies of the deceased were fished out and shifted to Sub District Hospital Chenani for postmortem.
Before jumping into the canal water, both of them had tied their hand with each other and also written a suicide note. Police has registered a case in this connection.
Meanwhile, a young woman, namely Poli Devi (26), wife of Om Parkash of Dhareen in Ramnagar, was found hanging from a tree at near her home.
On being informed by the family member, police rushed to the spot and took the dead body to Ramnagar Hospital for postmortem and other legal formalities; A case under section 174 has been registered in this connection for further investigation.
