Lord Meghnad Desai to share with J&K British experience of devolving power

JAMMU, Jan 6: Lord Meghnad Desai, an Indian-origin, UK politician and world famous economist, shall share with Jammu and Kashmir the British experience of devolving power.
He is scheduled to deliver Ist Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Memorial Lecture on the topic, `Devolving Power: The British Experience’, here at Jammu University auditorium on January 8.
On the occasion, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will be presented `Mufti Mohd Sayeed Probity in Politics & Public Life’ award by Governor N N Vohra, who will preside over the function. .
The said programme is being organized by the J&K People’s Democratic Party in connection with Mufti Mohd Sayeed Commemoration Day.
However, the programme to observe 2nd death anniversary of Mufti Mohd Sayeed will be held by the PDP at Dushera Ground, Gandhi Nagar Jammu on January 7 at 11 a.m. A number of senior PDP leaders will attend the programme, wherein the Minister for Tribal Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar will be the chief guest, informed Ved Mahajan, general secretary PDP.
Pertinent to mention that the programmes to observe the 2nd death anniversary  of Mufti Mohd Sayeed will be organized by PDP simultaneously at Jammu and Srinagar on January 7.
The Commemoration Day programme at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium in Jammu University on January 8 will begin at 11 a.m and Lord Meghnad Desai shall deliver an hour-long lecture from 11.30 a.m. It will be followed by the felicitation of Nitish Kumar and presenting him the award by Governor N N Vohra.
After an acceptance speech by Nitish Kumar, N N Vohra will deliver presidential address and the entire programme will conclude by 1.30 p.m.
