Longest surviving HM militant held

Srinagar, Jan 22: Security forces today arrested the longest surviving militant of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen in South Kashmir’s Shopian district while a civilian was injured in a grenade attack in Srinagar.
Additional Director General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said that Shopian Police and 44-RR of Army arrested the longest surviving HM active militant Nasir Ahmed Sher Gojri alias Qasim Bhai son of Ali Mohammad of Hom Huna Nagbal.
He said that Gojri was missing since 2017 and was involved in various militancy cases. A case has been registered and investigation set in motion to unearth the Hizb network in the area.
In the meantime, Kumar said that a civilian was injured in a grenade attack in Eidgah area of Srinagar this evening.
He said the grenade was lobbed by militants in Eidgah area which caused minor splinter injury to one person identified as Ajaz Ahmed Deva son of Abdul Rasheed Deva, 32, of Sangam, Srinagar.
Deva has been taken to hospital and is out of danger.
Security forces have launched an operation in the area against the militants responsible for the attack.
