Srinagar Aug 28: High Court today dismissed the petition filed by former Additional Advocate General Hilal Akbar Lone seeking liberty from the alleged house detention.
Lone had moved to court with a prayer that the policy authorities be directed to produce him before the Court and thereafter he be set at liberty accordingly from the alleged house detention.
Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey dismissed the plea of Lone as not pressed by him. Lone’s counsel submitted before the court that the petitioner-Lone was not allowed to be moved from his residence since June 18 which compelled him to approach this court.
He further added that now petitioner is allowed to move from his residence as such does not want to press the instant petition any further. “The statement is taken on record. In view of the statement made by the counsel for the petitioner, this court has no scope for hearing or deciding the matter on merits and returns findings and observations”, Justice Magrey said after making statement of petitioner-Cousnel.
It may be noted that last week almost 13 petitions moved by NC Leaders about their confinement and house detention were dismissed by the court after these leaders also expressed before the court for not pressing these petition further as they are allowed to move from their residences.
