POONCH, Apr 17: A single water tanker of PHE department supplying water in three tehsils of Mendhar Sub Division is lying defunct in the premises of the department for the last 4 months.
Official sources said that in coming summer season the people from this Sub Division will have to face hard days due to acute shortage of water. They said Mendhar Sub Division including Balakote and Mankote tehsils have been facing water crisis since long.
Only one water tanker of PHE Department was available here to supply drinking water to the locals during crisis times. But unfortunately that lone tanker too has been fallen defunct for the last over 4 months yet no measures were taken by the people at helm to affairs or make any other arrangement to provide drinking water to the people, they added.
It is pertinent to mention here that if department could have taken pains the tanker would have been sent for repair to the workshop and till then private tanker could have been pressed into service to mitigate the need of people but unfortunately no such move was initiated.
The people of the area was sought intervention of District Administration Poonch into this urgent matter.
