Lone pays surprise visit to Commerce College

JAMMU, Feb 7: Minister for Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone today paid surprise visit to Shri Partap Memorial Government Commerce College and took stock of facilities being provided to the students and infrastructural requirements of the college.
The Minister directed the head of the institution to start the work on leveling and filling of the College Ground immediately. He also directed the Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation (JKPCC) to prepare a comprehensive Detailed Project Report (DPR) for up gradation, improvement and renovation of various blocks of the college and submit the same to the concerned quarter for early funding.
Lone directed the College management to repair and renovate staff room of the institute out of the available funds of Rs 2 crore.
During the visit, the Minister convened a meeting with the staff members and reviewed the working of the college.
Mr Lone directed the teaching staff to remain punctual and ensure their presence in the college from 9.00 a. m to 3.00 p.m. He warned that any lapse in this regard will not be tolerated and the erring officials will be dealt under rules. The Minister also asked them to ensure the attendance of the students.
Reviewing the man power position in the College, the Minister said that all vacant posts will be filled soon. The Minister inspected various blocks of the college besides the hostel rooms and directed for better up keep of assets and also ensuring cleanliness in and around the college.
Special Secretary Higher Education Heemat Sharma also accompanied the Minister during the visit.
