Lone inaugurates hall at Govt College for Women Kathua

KATHUA, Dec 27: Minister for Higher Education, Mohammad Akbar Lone today inaugurated a Multi-Purpose Hall at Government College for Women Kathua constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 62 lakh.
Minister of State for Higher Education, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma and MLA Kathua, Charanjit Singh were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Lone said that the Government under the leadership of Omar Abdullah has taken several steps for up-gradation of basic infrastructure of all educational institutions across the State during the past over five years.
Recalling the contribution of Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah towards the betterment of education in the State, the Minister said that it was the mission of Sheikh Abdullah to remove illiteracy which was must for the progress of State.
With a view to add more accommodation to the college, the Minister directed the Monitoring Cell of Higher Education, JKPCC and Principal of the College to prepare a comprehensive project and submit the same to the concerned quarters within a fortnight so that the funds are sanctioned for the purpose.
Earlier, Mr. Lone inspected various departments of the college and directed the concerned to face lift the entire building, improve the drainage system and create other facilities for the students.
Responding to the demands regarding creation of sports infrastructure and lab equipment in the College, Mr. Lone directed the College authorities to come up with the proposal which will be examined on priority for appropriate action.
MLA Kathua, Charanjit Singh also spoke on the occasion and stressed the need for imparting moral education to the students which is must for the overall development of the youth. He announced Rs. 5 lakh out of his CDF for construction of drainage system of the college.
Among others, Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Jatinder Kumar Singh, Director Colleges, Dr. Traiq Ahmed Kawoosa, Managing Director, JKPCC, J.R. Bhagat, Principal of the college, staff, students and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
