BANGALORE, July 23: The Lokayukta today dismissed a petition filed against Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar on alleged land denotification issue.
Taking strong exception to the delay in submitting the required documents in support of his petition, Judge N K Sudhindra Rao, dismissing the petition, slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on the petitioner Chetan, a Journalism Student of a city college.
The Judge said the money may be transferred to Drought Relief Fund.
In his petition filed just two days before Mr Shettar took oath as Chief Minister, Chetan had alleged that he (Mr Shettar) as Revenue Minister during the JD(S) BJP coalition government, had misused his power and had denotified 188 acres of land at Dasanapur originally acquired by APMC for construction of Mega Market. After denotification, the land was sold to Real Estaters at cheaper rate leading to heavy loss to the State exchequer. (UNI)
