JAMMU, Feb 25: Lok Adalats were held in Jammu, Ramban and Bhaderwah.
A permanent Lok Adalat was today held under the chairmanship of RK Wattal, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Jammu, in the premises of District Court Complex Janipura.
Four benches were constituted to settle the cases in the Lok Adalat.
The bench number one comprising Nighat Sultana, Additional District Judge, Bank Cases Jammu, YP Kotwal, 1st Additional District and Sessions Judge Jammu and Naushad Ahmed dealt with Bank Recovery cases. The bench number two comprising Surjeet Singh Bali, Sub Judge/Special Mobile Magistrate, Jammu, 0P Bhagat, Municipal Magistrate Jammu and Advocate Deepali Arora, Retainer Lawyer DLSA Jammu, dealt with Municipal and Revenue cases. The bench number three comprising Pawan Sharma, Sub Judge Jammu, Rajhi Bhagat, 3rd Additional Muniff, Jammu and Advocate Veena Julmaria, Retainer Lawyer TLSC Jammu, dealt with Criminal Compoundable and Petty Criminal Offences. The bench number four comprising Dinesh Gupta, Special Mobile Magistrate Traffic Jammu, Slahuddin Ahmed, Additional Mobile Magistrate Traffic, Jammu and Advocate Beauty Pandita, Retainer Lawyer DLSA Jammu, dealt with Traffic matters and petty offences.
A total number of 197 cases were taken up, out of which 185 cases were disposed off. A total amount of Rs 11695919 was settled in the Lok Adalat.
Meanwhile, a regular Lok Adalat was held in Ramban under the chairmanship of Chairman District Legal Service Authority (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Ramban.
One bench was constituted for amicable settlement of diverse types of cases referred by the different courts.
The bench was presided over by the secretary District Legal Services Authority Ramban, Amit Sharma, who was assisted by Munsiff JMIC, Junaid Imtiyaz.
In all 20 cases of different nature were taken up, out of which 4 were amicably settled through mediation and reconciliation.
However, as many as 1000 cases of different nature were settled at the permanent Lok Adalats held at 4 different courts in District Doda.
The Permanent Lok Adalats simultaneously held at District Court Bhadarwah, Session Courts Doda, Thathri and Gandoh were organized by District Legal Service Authority Bhadarwah under the supervision of Principal District and Sessions Judge Bhaderwah Ashok Kumar Shavan, who is also Chairman of District Legal Service Authority Doda.
At Bhadarwah, 3 benches were established headed by Principal District and Sessions Judge Bhaderwah Ashok Kumar Shavan, Sub Judge Bhadarwah Reenu Dogra Gupta, Sub Judge Susheel Singh and Munsif Judge Sandeep Sen, beside retainer Lawyers including Advocate Manjeet Razdan, Advocate Mohd Majid Malik and Advocate Fareed Ahmed Beg. One bench each was established at Doda, Thathri and Gandoh for the permanent Lok Adalat.
“In all the four courts of Doda district, 1000 various types of cases were taken up in the adalat, held as per the directions of the National Legal Services Authority”, said Principal District and Sessions Judge Bhaderwah Ashok Kumar Shavan.
