UDHAMPUR, June 1: Peeved over worst condition of road from Latti to Chenani, locals of Latti-Marothi, Bupp and Sarar today protested against District Administration and demanded black topping of the road.
Alleging no repair of the road for the last several years, the protesting villagers said that because of no action by the district administration, the condition of the main road from Mantalai to Latti has worsened from the last four years.
During rains, they added, the road becomes muddy and extremely slippery thus triggering risk of accidents. During emergency, the neighbouring people remove the mud for safe passage of ambulances and vehicles carrying essentials.
“Whenever any incident takes place due to these complications, the whole administration and senior officers of the concerning department rush to the spot for showing sympathy with the victim and assuring repair of road, but in the course of time, they forget everything,” villagers rued.
This is the main road which connects two Tehsils; Latti Marothi and Chenani with each other and some of the High, Higher Secondary Schools, blocks DDC constituencies, BDC constituencies also fall in this belt.
Due to this, many officers, bureaucrats, elected representatives and Sarpanchs travel on this road but no one is raising the voice of the area before the administration, villagers added and appealed the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and District Administration Udhampur to take cognizance of the matter and ensure blacktopping of the road.
The protesting villagers were addressed by Surjeet Dhowan, Shankaar Singh, Kewal Singh and others.
