UDHAMPUR, July 1: Alleging use of substandard material by the construction company in road widening work, Sarpanchs, Panchs and locals protested against TRB Construction company and PMGSY Department, here today.
While maintaining complete social distancing, Sarpanchs, Panchs and locals of 10 Panchayats of Udhampur staged strong protest demonstration and also torched effigy of the construction as well as the PMGSY departmentt.
They protesters alleged using of sub-strandard material in the ongoing Jib Thathi (Garhi and Gatiyal Morh) road widening work under PMGSY.
While addressing to media persons, Sarpanch from Muttal Panchayat, Makkhan Kumar said that the said construction work was allotted to TRB Construction Company but due to the political interference of some local leaders, the company had sublet the construction work to inexperienced contractor who is close aide of local politician, which is in contravention of tender provision of PMGSY. Reminding that a few days back, Dhanu Bridge on Dudhar Nallah had also got damaged because of the substandard material used in construction work, he said that bridge was also constructed by the same Contractor.
Sarpanch from Barolla Panchayat, Irshad Mohd and Sarpanch from Neeli Nallah Panchayat, Sunil Manohar sought stern legal action against TRB Construction Company. They also urged the Lt Governor G C Murmu to order blacklisting the TRB Construction Company, which is continuously compromising with the quality of material in its construction works. They also lambasted the PMGSY Department for its casual and will approach towards the suffering of common people.
Locals demanded to repair the Dhanu Bridge or construct alternate bridge to ease the suffering of people. Various Sarpanchs, Panchs besides locals attended the protest demonstration.
