UDHAMPUR, June 17: Local of Chenani today protested against the decision of District Administration Udhampur to convert the Sub District Hospital Chenani into COVID-19 Center.
The protesting people also blocked the Chenani-Udhampur road and raised slogans to resent the District administration decision on converting the Sub-district Hospital to COVID-19 centre.
The protesters, led by Rajesh Gupta, former Beopar Mandal president, Nand Kishore, Ashok Gupta, Jagdish Gupta and Naresh Chand, alleged that the opening of a COVID-19 center in the Sub District Hospital Chenani will deprive people from Dudu Basantgarh, Latti, Kud and other areas from getting medical treatment as they are dependent on only this hospital. The COVID-19 hospital can be opened on the national highway or in a place like Patnitop, where even the tourists do not come nowadays and the hotels are lying empty, they suggested.
After the protest, a memorandum was given to SDM Chenani Abdul Star and SDM, who asked people not to worry about the decision. “We have arranged the COVID-19 Centre on the top floor of this hospital for which separate staff and route have been arranged,” they said even as the local kept insisting for withdrawal of the order on COVID Centre.
