UDHAMPUR, June 25: The locals of Thathi (Patta), Kembal Danga, Neeli Nallah and Dhanu Panchayats of district Udhampur have demanded a probe into damaging of Dhanu Bridge on Dudhar Nallah.
They appealed the Government to take stern action against the concerned Engineer & Contractor of the damaged bridge, which was constructed under PMGSY.
On the request of people, former MLA and NPP president Balwant Singh Mankotia today visited the site where Sarpanchs, Panchs and locals apprised him that the said bridge was damaged 10 days back. The work of road widening from Garhi to Gatiyal Morh is under PMGSY and contract was given to TRB company but later on the said company had sublet the construction work to local political leader in contravention of the tender provision, they added.
Locals further said that due to collusion of then concerned Engineer and the Contractor, substandard material was used in the construction work, which is also evident from a video made by them.
Mankotia urged Lt Governor G C Murmu to order a probe into the matter at earliest and take stern action against the concerned Engineer and the Contractor.
On the occasion, Sarpanch Shivdev Singh, Sarpanch Manohar Bhagat, Hoshiar Singh, Subash Singh and others were present.
