UDHAMPUR, Mar 17: Despite loss of precious lives in flash floods, the district administration has failed to construct a concrete bridge over Kund Nallah at village Kund Panchayat Bain in Chenani Tehsil.
Irked over the insensitive attitude of the administration, locals of the village held a protest. Amid rising of slogans against the Udhampur district administration, the protestors demanded construction of a concrete bridge over Kund Nallah to avoid loss of precious lives.
There are around 400 families in the area comprising village Mandir Dushla, Kharubha, Bani Sangam and Bain etc. In absence of a bridge, people cross the water filled Nallah on foot thus risking their lives.
There were instances when people got washed away while crossing the Nallah but the administration has so far adopted insensitive attitude towards the genuine demand of constructing a concrete bridge there.
During the rainy days, these villages remain cut off with the result the locals are not able to take their produce to the market or approach hospital during emergency.
