JAMMU, Feb 18: Legal Metrology Department (LMD) today recovered Rs 10,500 fine from eight traders for violation of different provisions of J&K Weights and Measures (Enforcement) Act 1997.
The market checking team of LMD under the supervision of Deputy Controller Enforcement VS Sambyal has conducted checking of the traders dealing with hardware, sweets, vegetables, karyana and meat in the markets of Khour, Akhnoor, Muthi, Paloura and Domana.
During the checking, the team found that eight traders were violating different provisions of J&K Weight and Measures (Enforcement) Act 1997 and recovered Rs 10,500 fine from them on the spot.
The team also lifted 7 LPG domestic cylinders from sweet and tea sellers in the areas of Talab Tillo, Udheywala, Muthi and Purkhoo. The cylinder were handed over to the Sales Officer of IOCL for safe custody and for initiating action under relevant laws.
