SAMBA, Mar 15: In connection with the World Consumer Rights Day, Legal Metrology Department (LMD) organized an awareness programme at Government Higher Secondary School for Boys, Samba today.
While educating the students about consumers rights, Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology, Samba, Anita Sharma threw light on basic consumer rights, their importance and enforcement. She motivated the students to commit themselves for educating the masses about the consumer rights.
The inspectors of the Legal Metrology stressed that the consumers should be vigilant while purchasing goods. They should ask for a valid bill, check all the mandatory declarations, date of packing, address of packers, consumer helpline number, weight of commodity etc. on the pre-packed commodity and check rate list at kiryana shops, sweet shops, dhabas etc, issued by the competent authority. In case of any violation or complaint regarding overcharging/less delivery by the trader, the consumers can approach the Department for redressal, she maintained.
