Kathua, Aug 19: A team of Legal Metrology Department along with other line departments inspected various units in SICOP Industrial area, Kathua and registered cases against seven units for violation of Legal Metrology Act and Rules.
Subsequently, the matter was taken up by the department with the defaulters who admitted the lapses on their part and applied for compounding of the cases at the departmental level and ultimately the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology, Kuldeep Raj imposed and recovered rupees one lakh as penalty from three units namely M/s SUS Agro Food India Limited (Rs. 50000), M/s Chattan Cement Industries (Rs. 25000) and M/s Rajasthan Cement Industries (Rs. 25000).
