SAMBA, July 6: A team of the Legal Metrology Department Samba headed by Assistant Controller Rajesh Heera conducted intensive checking of various business establishments especially petrol pumps, provisional stores, stationary shops, vegetable/fruit sellers at Bari Brahmana, Samba and Supwal area.
During the inspection, the team booked three provisional stores for violation of various provisions of Legal Metrology Act 2009 and one petrol pump for less delivery of petrol/diesel to the consumers.
The defaulter traders confessed their guilt and pleaded before the Legal Metrology Department for composition of their cases at departmental level. Assistant Controller after assurances from the defaulting traders that they will not repeat any kind of offence under law, compounded the cases and imposed a fine of Rs. 27000 on them.
The department directed all the traders to use only verified weights and measures for business transaction and ensure that all the pack commodities sold to the consumers must bear the MRP, PKD, Net Content, complete address and consumer care number.
