LMD books 4 eating joints at Wave Mall

JAMMU, Jan 27: Acting on complaints of the consumers regarding sale of Pop corns and cold drink on higher prices at the cinema halls, a joint team of the officer of Legal Metrology & Police conducted extensive checking of eatables at the Wave Mall here today.
According to Deputy Controller Consumer Protection, Manoj Prabhakar lot of consumers were complaining about the sale of cold drink of 450ml at Rs 80 (Regular) & sale of one pack of popcorns at the exorbitant rates of Rs 150 along with sale of Coke Diet ZERO at marked inflated MRP of Rs 60,the same product is available in the market with marked MRP of Rs 25.
The case was registered against the firm under relevant rules for not adhering to the mandatory declarations like MRP, PKD & complete address of the packer on the eatables & seizure memo issued.
Another vendor namely M/s Juice Sub Salad Bar was also booked for selling eatables without marking declarations.
The team also booked Levis showroom for deceiving consumers on the charging of extra VAT on the sale offers.
On the spot directions were issued for not to charging extra cost to the consumers and a case stands registered.
