LMD books 3 vendors of Jammu Airport for overcharging

JAMMU, Dec 11: Legal Metrology Department today booked three vendors at Jammu Airport for selling packaged articles at exorbitant rates.
According to a spokesman of LMD, a team of senior officers of LMD under the supervision of Joint Controller, Amar Singh, conducted a surprise inspection of Jammu Airport wherein three traders namely Surchi point, Books Point and My Shop were booked for violating Packaged Commodities Rules, 2011.
“These erring traders have offered for sale the gift items, food items like nuts, chocolates, imported chewing gums, video games, ladies suits, etc, which were not conforming to declarations as are envisaged in the laws. On certain goods stickers were pasted for MRP and some food items were found without date of manufacturing”, the spokesman said.
He said that Legal Metrology officer of the area namely Mohsin Khateeb seized a large quantity of goods from the erring traders and directed them to produce the invoices of the dealers, wherefrom they have purchased them.
