POONCH, Aug 5: The managements of two prominent petrol pumps in the vicinity of Bus Stand in Poonch, were booked during surprise raids conducted by an enforcement team of Legal Metrology Department today.
During an extensive checking of the petrol pumps, conducted by an enforcement team of the Legal Metrology Department, after complaints from some consumers, two nozzles of different petrol pumps which were delivering 30 ml lesser fuel in every five liters measure of fuel were detected. The team immediately booked the managements of the concern pumps and seized both the nozzles and stopped the supply of fuel.
Following submission of detailed offence report by the inspectors concerned, the Assistant Controller, Kewal Krishan served legal notice to the concerned management.
The Assistant Controller imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 and directed the management to check delivery at least thrice a day and in case of lesser or excess delivery, immediately stop sale from such nozzles and inform the department for its rectification. The AC directed the management of fuel stations to keep a 5-litre verified measure at the premises so as to enable consumers to check the delivery as well.
The Assistant Controller has warned the management of the all pumps to remain cautious in future and in case of any default on their part, the department shall recommend to the higher authorities to black list such pumps.
