LJP’s concern over Govt’s apathy towards migrants

JAMMU, Nov 14: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) national youth president and national spokesperson, Sanjay Saraf while expressing concern over the delaying tactics in settling the long pending demands of the Kashmiri migrants said that the displaced people living in camps especially the overaged youth are facing worst kind of problems.
Talking to reporters here, today Saraf urged the Government to take immediate steps in redressing the problems of the Kashmiri migrants and for their rehabilitation with honour and dignity as how long more the community will lead the exiled life.
He said Government should take concrete steps for one time rehabilitation of the community and pay compensation to overaged unemployed youth for their rehabilitation.
He said the delegation of LJP and some camp inmates from Jagti and other camps in this regard called on Commissioner Secretary, Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation and Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner and discussed the demands with them in detail. Memorandums were also handed over to them in this regard, he added.
He said the LJP demands that relief from Rs 83 per day per soul be enhanced to Rs 200 per day per soul in view of the price hike. He demanded elections should be held to form structured committee to have a transparent and working governing body so that a group of elected representatives will only lead the process of development and highlight the problems of the migrants.
Benefits of medical insurance scheme be given to the ailing people in camps and non camp areas, removal of encroachments from migrants land in Valley, the 85 employees working in Relief Organization be regularized, opening of fair price shops for migrants in camps and other localities, allotment of quarters to needy people living in non camps, allotment of shops at Jagti, setting up Aadhar centre for migrants, speeding up the work of sports stadium at Jagti and creation of community centre for speedy conducting of community affairs.
Saraf said that he also met the Minister of State for Forests Zahoor Ahmed and appealed him to issue orders to the Department in camp areas of Jagti, Nagrota, Purkhoo, Muthi and other places.
The press conference was attended by Ravi Tickoo, Vineet Karihaloo of LJP, Sunil Pandita, Dilip Raina, Sushil Bhat and T K Bhat representatives of camps.
