JAMMU, Nov 16: A live surgical workshop was conducted as a part of the two day North Zone Conference of Indian Menopause Society (NZ-IMSCON) organized by Indian Menopause Society (IMS), Jammu Chapter here today. Dr Sudhaa Sharma, noted Gynecologist from Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu was organizing chairperson and Dr Jyoti Hak was organizing secretary.
The live surgeries were performed by Dr HP Pattanaik, president-elect IMS, Dr Vinit Mishra, vice president-elect for FOGSI and Dr Manider Ahuja, president IMS, along with Dr Sudhaa Sharma, Dr Hak and Dr Jyotsna Lambha from GMC Jammu.
Benefits of these surgeries and procedures were delivered not only to the needy patients but simultaneously interactive sessions were held from the operating theaters with galaxy of prominent doctors from J&K. Other faculty members who interacted during these sessions were eminent Gynecologist of National repute like Dr Sunela Khandelwal, International Representative to CAMS and formal president IMS, Dr Poonam Goel from GMC Chandigarh, Dr Pushpa Sethi Chairperson Club 35 IMS and Dr Navneet Kour from GMC Chandigarh.
Live surgeries included procedures like Operative Hysteroscopy, Colposcopy and LEEP surgeries, which were carried out successfully in newly operational hi-tech multi-disciplinary hospital, which are not done routinely in the State. Operating faculty was appreciative of the theater setup, paramedical staff support and personal touch to the patient care. The anesthetist support was rendered by Dr Mukta Jatendra.
Workshop was well attended and interacted by eminent Gynecologist of the State from Medical Colleges Jammu, Srinagar, ASCOMS, Residents, Postgraduate, and practicing Gynecologists from Health Department.
Dr Sudhaa Sharma, patron and founder secretary of IMS Chapter said that such kind of uncommon workshop shall go a long way in capacity building of operating Gynecologists in the State.
