JAMMU, Nov 20: ‘Ahlaad-2019’, an Inter-Collegiate/ Departmental Literati Fest, organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, concluded here today.
Students from different affiliated Colleges and University Departments participated in competitions of Essay Writing, Short Story Writing, Poetry Recitation, Flower Arrangement and Sketching.
Prof Manoj K Dhar, Vice-Chancellor JU, was chief guest at the valedictory function and he praised the participating students for their creative presentations in the competition. The special feature of the programme was ‘Mitti Di Khushboo’ in which folk music and dances of Jammu were presented by Asha Kesar and group and Om Parkash and Party.
Prof Jasbir Singh, Dean Students Welfare, informed that the Department has chalked out many more such programmes which would make the campus culturally more vibrant.
In Essay Writing Competition, Bansuri Kalra from KC Law College, Shuvam Mankotia from GDC Billawar, Shivam from Department of Botany, JU stood First, Second and Third respectively. Certificate of Merit was awarded to Shambhavi Sharma from YCET.
In Short Story Writing, Swati Sharma from KC College of Education, Tajinder Kour from Deptt of Sociology and Sayeed Ahmed from Deptt of Urdu stood First, Second and Third respectively. Certificates of Merit were awarded to Tazkia Khan from Deptt of Botany and Anmol Sharma from GDC Bishnah.
In Sketching, Pranav Shivgotra from GCET, Khushboo Dogra from GCW Parade and Ragini Dutt Sharma from GCET stood First, Second and Third respectively. Certificate of Merit was awarded to Divyani from Dogra College of Education.
In Poetry Recitation, Shazia Manzoor from JU Law School, Asmita Saini from Dept of English and Asif Abdullah from GDC Doda stood First, Second and Third respectively. Certificates of Merit were awarded to Irfan Ahmed from Deptt of Pol Science, Seerat Baji from Deptt of English and Ashish Chowdhary from Dogra Law College. In Flower Arrangement, Mehak from Dept of Commerce, Namanpreet from GCW, Parade and Bansuri Kalra from KC Law College stood First, Second and Third respectively. Certificates of Merit were awarded to Shabnam from Deptt of Urdu and Shazia Akhter from GCW, Parade.
Prof Geeta Sumbi, Prof R N Gohil, Prof Indu Kilam, Dr Ashok Gupta, Vijaya Thakur, Vijay Anand, Aamir Al-Mansoor, Prof Anupama Vohra, Dr Anju Thappa, Dr Sadaf Shah, Dr Pritam Singh, Dr Liaqat Ali were the adjudicators for different events.
