JAMMU, Nov 21: The Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organised a literary as well as musical programme on the eve of 543rd Prakash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in KL Saigal Hall here today.
Ex-Minister, Rangil Singh presided over the function whereas S Pritpal Singh Betab was the chief guest. Additional Secretary, Jammu, Savita Bakshi, also shared the dais.
The programme started with lightening of ceremonial lamp followed by welcome address given by Savita Bakshi, who said that Guru Nanak Ji has enlightened the whole world by writing his philosophy in the shape of ‘Shabd Kirtan’, which teaches the lesson of humanity, brotherhood and amity.
Rangil Singh in his address appealed the people to follow the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He appreciated the efforts of the Cultural Academy for organising such a wonderful programme on the eve of Pakash Utsav.
First session of the programme was a musical programme based on ‘Shabd Kirtan’ of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, which was sung by S Gurvinder Singh, Kawal Singh, Manpreet Kour and S Sukhbeer Singh.
The second session comprised of ‘Kavi Sammelan’ wherein AS Mastana, Dr Raina, Dr Sham Kashmiri, Dr Monojit, Bachan Bharti, Devinder Vishavnagrik, Amarjeet Kour and Dr Satinder Singh recited their poems based mostly on ‘Parkash Utsav’.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Popinder Singh Paras, Editor, Punjabi, whereas vote of thanks was given by Dr Sudhir Mahajan.
