Liquor smuggling bid foiled, 1 held

REASI, July 28: Foiling an attempt of liquor smuggling to holy town Katra, Police today arrested a habitual offender and seized 37 pouches of illicit liquor from his possession.
Acting on specific information, a Police team,   headed by SHO Reasi, Inspector Kuldeep Krishan, laid a special naka at Ashoka Chowk Reasi and intercepted the accused. 37 poly pouches, measuring 250/250 ml each of J&K Excise liquor, were recovered from the possession of accused, identified as Gouri alias Sultan, son of Bishan Singh of Panchari Udhampur, at present Charan Paduka Katra.
Police seized the liquor pouches and arrested the accused.  In this connection, a case under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi.
According to Police, the accused person is a habitual offender and seven cases pertaining to Excise Act (U/S 48-A Excise Act, 188/RPC) have already been registered against him at Police Station Katra and P/S Reasi.
