Lineman receives electric shock

KATHUA, June 11: A PDD lineman Karam Chand received an electric shock while working on a HT Line for restoration of power supply at Hatlimore near here this morning.
According to reports the power supply was affected in Kathua area due to hailstorm last night and to restore the power supply, the authorities had ordered power shut down in the area.
As the message of shutdown was conveyed to the lineman he started working on the line to detect the fault and when he touched the wire, he received an electric shock and fell down. He was taken to District Hospital Kathua where from doctors shifted him to GMC Jammu for treatment. The Lineman has been admitted in the burn ward of the Hospital and his condition is stated to be serious.
Meanwhile power employees of Kathua have expressed their serious resentment and concern over the negligence of authorities. They said that despite the orders of shutdown the wires were live, resulting into the electric shock to the lineman.
