Lightning struck Latti village; girl, woman serious

UDHAMPUR, June  25:  A young pregnant woman and a teen- aged girl were injured seriously after they were hit by lightning during rain and thunderstorm  at Napah village, near Manju Top, in Latti tehsil of Dudu Sub Division this evening.
Reports said that mishap took place at around  5.30 pm when they were coming from nearby forest.  It was raining and both were sharing an umbrella. Suddenly, a strong beam of flash light hit both causing them serious injuries.
Their  umbrella and clothes got burnt and most of the body turned black. They cried for help  and the family members and villagers rushed for the rescue and shifted them to Latti PHC  on cots by tracking down long distance on foot from hill top. They were provided  treatment in Latti hospital and were being shifted to District Hospital, Udhampur.
They were identified as Anju (15), daughter of Brij Lal and her Bhabhi, Surishta Devi, wife of Ravi Kumar, residents of Napah village. While Anju is student of class 9 th, Sureshta studies in  BA Part-II, in Degree College, Udhampur.
