Life-imprisonment to man for killing wife

JAMMU, Dec 30: Principal Sessions Judge Poonch, Kishore Kumar today awarded life-imprisonment to father of three daughters for killing his wife.
According to the police case, the accused Mohd Bashier and Zainab Bi entered into wedlock about 15 years ago. Out of the wedlock three girls were born. However, within two-three years of marriage their relations became strained. Later, they started residing separately.
On April 17, 2007 Mohd Bashier saw Zainab Bi in bazar at Harni and he took her to his house. On the intervening night of April 17 and 18, 2007, Mohd Bashir killed his wife mercilessly and buried her dead body at unknown place.
On this information, a case for commission of offence under Section 302 RPC was registered. During the course of investigation, it came to fore that relations between Mohd Bashier and Zainab Bi turned strained as the accused was physically harassing her on one pretext or the other.
After hearing Public Prosecutor Nazir Hussain appearing for the State whereas Mohd Maroof for the accused, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “the accused has committed the murder of his wife, who remained with him for 15 years and gave birth to three female children and performed her matrimonial duties”, adding “the accused is a young person and the imposition of life imprisonment would serve the interest of justice as the case don’t not fall in rarest of the rare case”.
Accordingly, the accused was awarded rigorous life-imprisonment under Section 302 RPC.
