JAMMU, Sept 10: Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur R S Jain today awarded life-imprisonment to LeT terrorist Abdul Majeed, who was involved in bomb blast case of May 2, 2011 at Dhanori near Birma bridge on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Udhampur district.
After hearing both the sides, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “the aggravating factors are that the offence was committed in a pre-planned manner. The mitigating factors are that the convict Abdul Majeed is not involved in any other criminal case and that the accused is about 63 years old”.
Stating that the case in hand certainly does not fall within the category of rarest of rare case, the court convicted Abdul Majeed under Sections 120B read with Sections 302/307/326/324 RPC/Section 3 of Explosive Substance Act and Section 16/18 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and awarded him imprisonment for life.
