JAMMU, Sept 1: The J&K unit of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India has topped in the country by achieving growth rate of 51% against national growth of 27% in terms of first premium income during second quarter of this financial year.
Addressing a press conference here today, Senior Divisional Manager of LIC (J&K), T S Bali said that LIC of India today completed 61 years in public service and in this context, various programmes are being organised across the State. This included, health check up camps, drawing/ painting & quiz competitions among school children besides tree plantation drives.
Referring to the performance of Srinagar Division, Bali said that Division has completed more than 43000 policies with growth rate of 12.18 % and Rs 104 crore of first premium income, with growth rate of 51.13 % as on date. He claimed that Srinagar Division has stood first in the country to achieve its quarter 2 budget of total first premium income and number two in terms number of policies generated. In addition to it, the LIC in J&K has collected Rs 114 crore through pension and group schemes. The renewal premium collected by Division has come up to the tune of Rs 422 crore.
Bali further disclosed that the LIC during last financial year settled 2580 death claims of Rs 43 crore and 109704 Maturity and SB claims of Rs 532 crore with outstanding ratio of just 0.30 %.
The Company has 17 branches, 14 satellite offices , 13 mini-offices and 175 premium points. The Srinagar Division has 6100 agents, 160 Development Officers and 175 Chief Life Insurance Advisors. The company is offering 28 plans/ products to its customers which best suites to them as per their needs. Health insurance is one of them which is widely liked by the people.
The SrDM further disclosed that LIC is going to recruit nearly 2000 new agents including graduates and under graduates shortly and the company would provide Rs 5000 per month to rural area (Rural Carrier Agents) and Rs 7000 p.m to the City area agents as stipend besides commission.
Marketing Manager Sagar Dev Negi and other senior officials of the LIC, SN Sharma, Manjit Singh and Sham Lal Bhagat were also present.
