LIC organizes seminar on Social Security

JAMMU, Oct 29: As part of Social Security month, the Pension & Group Schemes (P&GS) unit of LIC of India at Agrrikalan in district Baramulla convened a seminar on Janashree Bima Yojana and Aam Admi Bima Yojana.
The focus of the seminar was to create awareness about the recently launched Aam Admi Bima Yojana and Janashree Bima Yojana which provide insurance cover at a very low cost to people living under or marginally above poverty line.
Chaitanya Sharma, Branch Manager, who inaugurated the seminar, apprised the participants of various group insurance products and its characteristics. He also explained the benefits being provided through these schemes to the BPL and land less households. He said that UPA Govt. has earmarked Rs. 1000 crore for providing death and disability insurance cover to downtrodden and weaker sections of the society.
Sharma highlighted the benefits of the scheme and called upon the NGOs and various Govt Welfare Departments to avail full benefits of the scheme.
The reputed social organizations Anmol Sozni Chain Stitch, Women Handicraft Welfare, Sabzar Social Welfare Society, Bashir Ahmad, Dr Shabir Ahmad Ghulam Mohd along with local Sarpanchs and Panchs were also present.
Scholarship cheques worth Rs. 2.25 lakh were distributed among various NGOs.
