JAMMU, Aug 30:  The LIC employees organized a rally outside LIC office at Rail Head Complex here today  against the neo- liberal economic policies of the NDA Govt in preparation to one day strike to be observed on 2nd September.
The rally was led by Pawan Gupta,  Divisional secretary NZIEA Srinagar Division. While speaking on the occasion, Mr Gupta lambasted the Central Govt and announced that the Insurance employees working in LIC and GIC under the  banner of All India Insurance Employees Association will observe one day strike on  September 2,  2016 as a part of Nationwide strike call given by Central Trade Unions, industrial Federations and Associations.
He said this  strike is in support of 12 point charter of Central Trade Unions and a large number of Industrial Federations and Associations. The  major demands pertains to  containing price rise and unemployment, enforcement of Labour laws, universal social security cover/ pension benefit  for all workers, minimum wages of not less than 18000/per month, stoppage  of contractualisation, payment of  bonus to all, against FDI in Railways, Defense, Insurance etc.
Romesh Chand and Rajesh Gupta, joint secretaries NZIEA Srinagar Division elaborated about the demands of Insurance employees which included five day week work, recruitment and absorption of the residual regular part time employees, one more option for pension and against, disinvestment of Public Sector  Insurance companies.
Others who spoke included Neelam Sharma women convener, Raj Kumar Sharma,  Dinesh Sharma, Rajesh Kumar,  Karan Kumar, Nanak Chand, Com. Rekha Rani, Priya Sharma, Alkiya Sharma, Ruchi Jamwal and Sushma Jamwal.
