Lib Assistant held for murder of friend in Leh

LEH, July 22: A Library Assistant posted in a Government School here was arrested for allegedly murdering his friend, Police said today.
They said information was received today at Police Station Leh from reliable sources about body of an unknown male, aged around 35-40 years, near the Highway in Phyang.
On this, police said, a case FIR number 122/2023 under Section 302 was promptly registered in Police Station Leh and investigation started.
Upon reaching the crime scene, they said, the investigators found the lifeless body of one Lobzang Rinchen, a resident of Gompa Gangles Leh, who worked in the district court as an associated of an advocate. The deceased had severe head injuries and multiple bruises, indicating a violent struggle.
The police further said that next to the body, a Celerio car (JK10B-2878) was found, and drag marks led from the car’s front passenger seat to the dead body.
Further investigations revealed that the vehicle belonged to one Rabjor Namgyal, a Library Assistant posted in Government Higher Secondary School Chuchot Shamma, who actually hails from Skara, Leh.
As the investigation progressed, suspicion arose when Rabjor Namgyal was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the absence of his car. Subsequently, he was taken into custody, police said.
During questioning, police said, Namgyal confessed that he knew the deceased for several years and that they had been together in his car near Phyang the previous night at 2000hrs.
“A heated argument ensued, leading to the accused losing control of his temper and launching a brutal attack on Lobzang Rinchen, causing his untimely demise. Namgyal then left his car at the crime scene and returned home,” police said.
Pertinently, DySP Headquarters Md Hussain led the investigation and, under his supervision, vital pieces of evidence were collected from the crime scene, including blood stains on the car, rocks, and soil. Furthermore, additional evidence was seized from the residence of the accused based on his confession, including blood-stained clothing.
While the accused Rabjor Namgyal has been arrested, further investigations are underway.
