JAMMU, Dec 7: “The Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, GC Murmu’s activism has raised hopes of the refugees and displaced people”, said Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, BJP State Spokesperson on Kashmir Affairs.
He was addressing groups of youth of the displaced people at party headquarters here today.
Chrungoo said that the activism of the Lt. Governor is not only appreciable but it has set an agenda for the next six months for the bureaucracy and the administration of the UT.
“It is travesty of the spirit of the PM’ Package for the displaced youth and the refugees of 1947 that a lot of issues are yet pending. The earlier bureaucratic rigmarole, non-serious approach and unnecessary cobwebs of rules and regulations have taken the toll of time and thus many benefits could not reach the deserved people,”
He said it would be prudent to fill up all the vacancies pending regarding the PM’s employment package for the Kashmiri displaced people in a time bound manner, adding that similarly, the updating of the waiting lists, de-reservation of vacancies and result- withheld cases need to be expedited at an immediate opportunity. “The 500 posts reserved for the non-displaced Sikh and KP community youth under the PM employment package also should be advertised urgently. The compensation payments to be made to the West Pakistan refugees, PoJK displaced persons and the displaced persons of 1965 and 1971 are also in the pipeline for a long time now. Despite persistent PMO’s and Union Home Ministry’s instructions and advice in this regard, the payments of compensation are being withheld on one pretext or the other,” Chrungoo said.
Chrungoo made an appeal to the Lt. Governor to intervene in this context and personally monitor the processes connected with these issues.
With the activism and leadership of the administration in the hands of the Lt. Governor, the people of the UT desire and deserve delivery of promises without undue hiccups.
