SRINAGAR, Oct 15: After much delay, the Srinagar Development Authority’s (SDA) Multi-Level Parking in Lal Chowk is finally going to be inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha during a function scheduled to be held tomorrow.
Under the Smart City Project, the parking lot has been constructed by the SDA at a cost of around Rs 25 crore in a record time for which the SDA has been hailed from all quarters.
About the design of the ramp-type multi-level parking, there are 5 lifts installed with 2 stairs and has got separate washrooms for ladies and gents on all four floors. The facility has been constructed under the overall supervision of Engineer Talib Hussain who has constructed major landmark buildings in the city.
The parking has also got two entry and exit points, each from the Press Enclave and Abi Guzar side. It is also to be noted here that the parking has been waiting for the inauguration for the last more than 4 months now while the public has been criticising the administration for not making it functional despite being aware of the parking woes in the city centre.
Notably, the parking facility has been designed in a way that it can accommodate over 500 vehicles at a time which can prove a great relief to the people thronging the city centre.
The inauguration is expected to be attended by top officials from the administration as well as the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC).
